We can infer with confidence that the war mentioned in Revelation is the WW3 which will cost 2 billion lives.
World War 3 prophesied in Daniel
Dan 11:3 Then a mighty king shall arise, who shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.
Alexander the Great created a vast empire that stretched from Macedonia to Egypt and from Greece to parts of India.
Dan 11:4 And when he has arisen, his kingdom shall be broken up and divided toward the four winds of heaven, but not among his posterity, nor according to his dominion with which he ruled; for his kingdom shall be uprooted, even for others besides these.
After Alexander's death, his empire was divided into four major portions by 301 BCE:
1. Cassander ruled over Greece,
2. Lysimachus ruled Asia Minor,
3. Seleucus I Nicator (king of the North) ruled in Babylon and Persia, and
4. Ptolemy I Soter (king of the South) ruled over the Holy Land and Egypt.
How World War 3 Begins?
Dan 11:40a "At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind,
The conflict between the king of the South which is an alliance of Israel and Egypt with the king of the North, Iran will spark off WW3.
Dan 11:29 At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter.
'The time appointed' is that particular time or day in the last days (time of the end) just before Rapture. (Please read Dan 11:35)
The continuous animosities and battles between neighbouring countries in the Middle East is nothing new to the world. However, in this case when Iran fights back, an outsider (USA) will intercept the Iranians and then attacks the Iranian military and nuclear sites.
Dan 11:30 For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant. (KJV)
Chittim or Kittim means land or nations in the West. Today, the West refers to USA and EU
Ships of Chittim - The US fifth Fleet stationed in the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea will immediately send their missiles, bombers, fighter jets, to attack Iran to protect their military bases.
The rest of the world will stand in solidarity to condemn the oppression inflicted upon a small tiny Shia Muslim nation by the rich and powerful West.
Indignation against the holy covenant - Iran will immediately call for Jihad against US, EU and all Christians (holy covenant).
Muslims living in the West will be so infuriated that they begin to sabotage and destroy their adopted countries. Military bases, arsenal and weaponry, power stations, storages, factories, businesses, ships, hospitals, high rise buildings and everything in sight will be targeted. With the West in a self-destruct mode, Iran with demonic help, and its powerful allies will easily conquer all the enemy nations.
Dan 11:31 And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation.
Forces mustered - When Iran call for a Jihad, Sunni Muslims will rebel against their Sunni regimes and join forces with Iran. In duress, the Middle East will relinquish their sovereignty to Iran. Countries like Russia, China and Muslim countries will fight alongside Iran to destroy the mighty West.
Defile the sanctuary fortress - Jerusalem will be trampled by Iran as prophesied by our Lord Jesus.
Luke 21:20 "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near."
After World War 3, Iran will form the One World Order.
